US President Trump stated on the 20th that if the United States and Iran can reach an agreement, he is willing to spend a few more days waiting for a response from the Iranian side.
After returning to the capital Washington from Connecticut, he told the media at the airport that matters could progress very rapidly, or it may take a few days. He hopes the Iranian leaders can facilitate an agreement that is beneficial to all parties.
He said, "If simply waiting a few more days can avoid a war... then I think that is extremely meaningful."
He pointed out that before Iran formally signs the agreement, he will not grant any form of sanction relief, and emphasized that he will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.
He stated that this will be over soon, "no matter in what way."
When asked about the situation in Cuba, Trump said, "The situation will not escalate, and I don't think there is any need for that."
