(France, 27th) French police arrested a man on the 26th suspected of a series of stabbings targeting three women on the Paris Metro, an incident that occurred while year-end festivities were taking place in the city.
According to Central News Agency, the Paris public transport company (RATP) stated that the three victims were attacked with a knife at three different locations along Metro Line 3, which runs through the center of Paris.
RATP reported that the attacks took place between 4:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. local time. "The injured were quickly taken care of by emergency responders."
Prosecutors pointed out that police used surveillance footage and mobile phone location technology to ultimately track down and arrest the suspect in the Val-d'Oise district in northern Paris.
The prosecutors said, "Police entered the scene and deployed additional security personnel to strengthen safety along the Metro routes."
In recent times, attacks and plots targeting festive or religious gatherings have occurred. Across Europe, countries are especially vigilant against any violent incidents during the year-end period.
