Meet the people session: City Council Receives 18 Complaints

(Miri, 6th) Miri City Council held its monthly meet the people session today at Miri Old People's Street and received 18 public appeals.

Miri Deputy Mayor Arifin stated at the press conference following the reception day that out of the appeals received today, 10 were directed to the engineering unit, 2 to the public health unit, 4 to the public cleaning and maintenance unit, and 1 to the land unit.

He said that complaints for the engineering unit involved blocked drains with odors, overgrown wild grass, burn marks left after open burning at Tudan, damaged pedestrian paths at the back alleys of residential areas, road repairs, and illegal extensions by neighbors. In terms of public health, there were complaints about illegal operators at Tudan and stray dogs in Marudi.

“Regarding the cleaning and maintenance unit, some residents requested the relocation of trash bins at Kampung Lusut, Airport Road residents complained about unfriendly trash bin placements by garbage contractors, and residents in Krokop dumping garbage in the back alleys.”

He also stated that on land issues, residents on Hainan Road requested the city council to trim trees along the entire road. Additionally, some residents requested for the provision of electronic assessment tax bills.
