(Cambodia 6th) Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari is on a working visit to Cambodia, establishing close cooperation between Malaysia, particularly Sarawak, and Cambodia, setting clear goals for both countries.

The Chairman of the Islamic Missionary Council for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari, plans to arrive in Cambodia this Saturday to attend the 20th Southeast Asia and Pacific Islamic Missionary Conference.

The Honorary Secretary of the Southeast Asia and Pacific Islamic Missionary Conference, Datuk Mohamad Mazuki, stated that RISEAP continues to play a role in nurturing outstanding Muslims by creating firm and successful life goals.

“Therefore, the main purpose of the Sarawak Premier's trip to Cambodia is to personally understand the living conditions of the Muslim community that has long resided in the country, currently numbering around 700,000 Muslims.”

Datuk Mohamad Mazuki pointed out in a media interview yesterday that the responsibility of the Southeast Asia and Pacific Islamic Missionary Council is to cooperate with Muslim communities in member countries.

“We have 24 countries and two allied nations. The principle of the Southeast Asia and Pacific Islamic Missionary Council is to cultivate outstanding Muslims, particularly in the financial sector, where we work together to provide them with 'financial freedom'.”

He stated that the Southeast Asia and Pacific Islamic Missionary Council expects to visit South Korea, which has a minority Muslim population, in July or August next year, following New Zealand.

The series of working visits by Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari to Cambodia is expected to culminate in a meeting with the Cambodian Prime Minister immediately after the 20th Southeast Asia and Pacific Islamic Missionary Council Conference.
