(Bandar Seri Begawan, 7th) The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), through its Cybercrime Investigation Unit (BSJS) and Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), continues to actively promote public education, striving to raise awareness across all sectors of society about the threats posed by cybercrime.
On November 4, 2025, the Cybercrime Investigation Unit was invited to conduct a seminar as part of the Pre-Retirement Preparation Course at the Institute of Public Administration (IPA), delivering a briefing on “Fraud Prevention Online” for 39 soon-to-retire officers. The seminar exposed common scam tactics seen on social media platforms and reminded the public to never casually disclose personal or financial information to strangers.
In addition, on November 5, 2025, the Cybercrime Investigation Unit teamed up with the Women and Child Abuse Crime Investigation Unit (USJPWK) to hold an awareness seminar on “Cybercrime and School Bullying” for 50 sixth-grade students at Chung Ching Middle School, Kuala Belait. The event aimed to guide the younger generation to stay alert when using the internet and to learn basic cybersecurity knowledge.
During the seminar, students also recognized the dangers of school and cyberbullying, including the psychological impact on victims and ways to seek help or report bullying behavior.
The Royal Brunei Police Force urges people from all walks of life—whether adults, students, or retirees—to remain vigilant during online activities, and encourages schools, government departments, and community organizations to continue launching cybersecurity education programs to strengthen public knowledge and awareness of prevention.
Through ongoing outreach and educational efforts, the Royal Brunei Police Force will continue to guide and protect the wider community, preventing scams and the increasingly prevalent threats found online, thereby fulfilling its mission of maintaining community safety and well-being.
