(Bandar Seri Begawan, 2nd) Brunei has made significant progress, such as the launch of 5G connectivity, electronic payment systems, and the upcoming digital identity authentication for the Brunei ID (BruneiID).
These advancements ensure the country remains at the forefront of new technologies, continuously attracting high-quality investment, and bringing benefits to businesses, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises, including women and young entrepreneurs.
Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, highlighted the importance of digitalization and artificial intelligence in driving socio-economic development during the keynote speech at the 2025 Brunei Business Conference yesterday.
He stated: “To support digital transformation, we have also introduced the Cybersecurity Order (2024) and the Personal Data Protection Order (2025).
These measures are vital to ensuring the security of the digital space and further enhancing the confidence of both consumers and businesses.”
He also acknowledged that the current geo-economic challenges are becoming increasingly complex and require collective response, with the best approach being continued cooperation with ASEAN and APEC partners.
