KK Wong Holds 30th Anniversary Show, Celebrity Friends Support with Hilarious Appearances

Veteran DJ KK Wong, who has been active in the entertainment industry for 30 years, held two sessions of his show “30 Together: ‘Still Alive, That’s a Miracle’ KK Wong Maolala Opens Up Again” over the weekend. Connecting memories through laughter, KK led the audience to revisit his journey with self-deprecating humor and genuine emotion. Although all tickets were priced uniformly at just RM88, he did not compromise on production quality; both shows were filled with continuous laughter and applause, leaving him moved to exclaim: “It was all worth it!”

In the performance, KK Wong showcased his signature stand-up comedy style, adding theatrical elements as he brought rarely revealed experiences from his 30-year career to the stage. From his youthful inexperience at the start, to craving validation through looks, and facing depression, self-doubt, and inner struggles, he nearly laid himself bare, at one point shedding tears on stage, allowing the audience to witness the real and vulnerable side behind his humorous exterior.

His strong relationships with fellow entertainers built over 30 years became a powerful support for the show. Friends from the entertainment circle such as Fong Yiliang, DJ Mayzi, Chan Hui Tian, Li Xinyi, Cai Peixuan, Li Qiang, Wang Biao Min, Pei Le, and Tan Yulian all turned up to show support. Although Wong Chui Ling could not attend in person, she specially recorded the opening narration, and Chan Kar Wing, Rickman (Xie Chengwei), and Jiang Peipei acted as guest performers, demonstrating their enduring friendship.

During the performance, Chan Kar Wing played the role of “Voice Judge,” listing out KK Wong’s “crimes” over the years such as being sharp-tongued, meddlesome, and outspoken, to which KK had to defend himself, making it a hilarious mock courtroom scene. Rickman took on the role of “Parallel Universe KK Wong,” showing a different side of him from an alternative angle. Despite her busy schedule and no time for rehearsal, Jiang Peipei immediately displayed perfect chemistry with KK when she went on stage, engaging in spontaneous banter and even revealing that the reason she remains unmarried was because KK once said he would marry her, which brought the house down in laughter.

Additionally, the classic character “Datin Ong” made a surprise comeback and, for the first time, had an on-stage “confrontation” with the real KK Wong. On one side was the confident and commanding Datin Ong, on the other was KK Wong explaining and defending himself. The two sparred back and forth, as if launching into a “self-trial,” making it one of the most popular segments of the evening.

Looking back on his 30 years in showbiz, KK Wong admitted that in his youth he could never let go of the past and was often at odds with himself. But with experience and age, he gradually learned to let go and focus on the present. He believes no step in the past was wasted, and being able to face oneself calmly and cherish the present is life’s greatest reward.
