The "2024 MBC Drama Awards" originally scheduled to be broadcast live on December 30 last year, was postponed to mourn the victims of the Jeju Air crash. Although the awards were given out on the day as planned, the ceremony was recorded and broadcast on the 5th. Actor Han Suk-kyu, returning to MBC dramas after 30 years, won the Grand Prize with his role in the suspense drama "Such Intimate Betrayal" as a profiler suspecting his daughter of a crime. As the drama depicts a parent-child relationship, he empathized deeply with the air crash victims' families, who lost their loved ones. Onstage, he repeatedly apologized during his acceptance speech, at times so choked up that he covered his mouth. He ended with a deep sigh and said "Sorry" before stepping down, leading the audience to reflect, "This is the most sentimental Grand Prize acceptance speech in history."

Yoo Yeon-seok and Lee Je-hoon each took home the Best Actor in a Miniseries award for "Calling Now" and "Investigative Commander 1958", respectively. In "Calling Now", Yoo Yeon-seok portrayed the role of "Baek Si-on", a presidential spokesperson desperately searching for his kidnapped wife, Chae Soo-bin. His tearful scenes were praised, and he humbly stated that the award belonged to the entire crew. Yoo admitted his concerns about his stamina during the latter part of filming, "Han Suk-kyu senior happened to be shooting his last scene at the studio, and I went to greet him. His words gave me strength, just as they did when filming 'Dr. Romantic Teacher Kim', allowing me to shoot until the end. I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to him."

Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin, the popular CP from "Calling Now", gained recognition.

The Best Actress in a Miniseries award also went to "Calling Now"'s Chae Soo-bin. She mentioned, "I dreamed of being an actress since I was little; I think experiencing various lives through acting is a cool thing. Each work is like a gift to me." She hopes her dramas bring happiness and joy to others, and she thanked the director, screenwriter, crew, and Yoo Yeon-seok, "I called him 'Captain Yoo' on set and followed him. I want to say thank you to him."
