Wong Hung Sheng Hopes to Strengthen Cooperation with Henan Province to Help Make Sarawak a Supply Chain Hub

(Kuching, 17th) Zhengzhou's expertise in logistics and supply chain, especially in the areas of port development, logistics park planning, and smart city applications, can provide important references for Sarawak's development.

Kuching South City Mayor Dato Wong Hung Sheng stated that the close cooperative relationship between Kuching and Zhengzhou has a long history, initially starting with cultural exchanges and now expanding into the fields of education, trade, and tourism.

“With Zhengzhou enterprises entering Kuching, I hope they will consider developing Sarawak into a supply chain hub for Southeast Asia, thus deepening trade and economic cooperation between Kuching, Sarawak, and Zhengzhou.”

He pointed this out in his speech yesterday at the welcome dinner hosted by the Kuching South City Council for the visiting delegation from the People's Government of Henan Province, China.

He said that the future development plan of Kuching South City is aligned with the Sarawak Government's 2030 post-pandemic development strategy, aiming to build a smart, green and sustainable city.

“In this process, we hope to further strengthen cooperation with Henan Province and Zhengzhou, especially in smart logistics, talent cultivation, and sustainable urban solutions.”

He believes that with a solid foundation of friendship, Kuching and Zhengzhou can explore more mutually beneficial areas of collaboration and become a model for Malaysia-China friendship.

Meanwhile, Zhengzhou Municipal People’s Government Mayor Zhuang Jianqiu said the cooperative relationship between Zhengzhou and Kuching could be further expanded through solid economic and trade cooperation, and will move towards an even brighter future through the joint efforts of both sides.

Therefore, he hopes both parties will continue to consolidate their partnership, especially in industry, trade, culture, tourism, and education, to bring cooperation to a higher level.
