Mathematics Golden Cup Inherits 40 Years of Tradition, Cultivating Students’ Logical Thinking

(Miri, 27th) Miri Mayor and Pujut State Assemblyman, Yii Siu San, stated that the National Chinese Primary School Mathematics Golden Cup Competition organized by Jalin Youth Association has a history of 41 years. It is a highly representative educational activity that not only provides children the chance to learn from each other in the field of mathematics, but, more importantly, cultivates their logical thinking, concentration, and problem-solving abilities.
He made these remarks while officiating the closing ceremony of the 39th 2025 Jalin Youth Association National Chinese Primary School Mathematics Golden Cup Competition (Miri District Round) today.
Yii Siu San said that this competition is not just an academic competition, but also a valuable experience in the children's learning and growth journey. This year, over 3,800 students from more than 800 Chinese primary schools nationwide participated; in the Miri district round, 110 students eagerly registered, fully showcasing everyone’s importance and enthusiasm for mathematics learning.

He said that seeing the children's active participation and excellent performance, he firmly believes this will become important nourishment for their future growth, and encouraged all participating students that regardless of whether they win awards, by bravely stepping onto the competition stage, they have already demonstrated their love and perseverance for learning.
He emphasized that the significance of the competition lies not only in the results, but more in the gains and growth during the process. At the same time, he thanked the organizers, Miri Kayin Five Clans Association, the organizing committee, teachers, and parents for their hard work and support, allowing students to learn and grow in a good environment.
He hopes that the Mathematics Golden Cup Competition can continue to be passed down, providing a platform nationwide for students to showcase themselves and hone their wisdom.
