122 Bridges Progressing in Stages Under Sarawak Rural Bridge Transformation Plan

(Kuching, 20th) According to the Sarawak Rural Bridge Transformation Plan (RBTP), there are currently 122 bridges at various stages of implementation.

Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Amar Douglas, stated that 4 of these bridges have been completed, 52 are under construction, 11 bridges are at the tendering stage, and another 55 bridges are at the pre-contract signing stage.

“The construction of these bridges reflects Sarawak’s development progress as well as our commitment to modernizing the transportation system.”

“This helps maintain connectivity among the people, embodying our vision to build a united and interconnected Sarawak.” 

Douglas further mentioned in the departmental wrap-up at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly today that the Sarawak Public Works Department is currently managing 597 projects under six development agencies, with a total value of RM4.62 billion. 

He also revealed that the Sarawak Public Works Department (now the technical department under Ministry of Finance Directive No.182 (AP182)) is implementing 242 federal projects with a total value of RM3.86 billion.

“This year, the Sarawak Public Works Department is responsible for implementing 242 projects under AP182, totaling a value of RM3.86 billion.” 

“As for project progress, 17 projects have been completed, 52 projects are under construction, 46 projects are at the tendering stage, and 127 projects are at the pre-contract signing stage.”
