(Miri, 25th) Miri Police District Chief, ACP Alexson Naga, stated that as of the 23rd of this month, there have been 99 criminal cases in Miri, which is a decrease of 21 cases compared to last year.
He said that regarding drug cases, there have been 343 drug cases and 355 arrests during the aforementioned period, more than last year's 219 cases and 239 arrests.
Alexon Naga made these remarks during the 218th Police Day assembly held at the bureau.
He pointed out that during the said period, there were also 108 commercial crime cases in Miri, higher than last year's 69 cases, while the funds defrauded this year amounted to RM4.9 million, RM2.3 million less than the same period last year.
“In terms of traffic cases, as of the 23rd of this month, Miri has seen 750 traffic cases, a decrease of 58 cases compared to the same period last year.”
He urged the Miri community to continue cooperating by providing information to the police regarding crimes in their area so that the police can effectively fulfill their duties in combating crime in the Miri region.
“For people who will be leaving home to celebrate the upcoming festive season, you can inform the police so they can conduct crime prevention patrols in those areas. Also, people travelling on the road during Hari Raya should drive carefully.”
He also said, “I would like to take this opportunity to express gratitude to all senior officers and personnel for their outstanding duties and high commitment during this time, which have been recognized with certificates of appreciation. I hope the recognition given through this event will encourage officers of all levels, officers, and civilian staff to be more efficient in carrying out their daily duties.”
Alexson Naga stated that this would be his last time presiding over an event in the Miri police district, as he will be transferred to the Kuching headquarters this year, and he expressed heartfelt thanks to the public for their support and cooperation during his tenure as Miri Police District Chief.
