(Kuching, 15th) The Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) has yet to discuss the application of former Democratic Action Party (DAP) leader Abd Aziz to join the party.
At today's press conference, when the media inquired about the progress of Abd Aziz's application, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, who is the chairman of SUPP, stated that the party has not yet discussed his application.
"We do not discuss this here. Don't tell me this person is so important that we must discuss it here."
Abang Johari, the Chief Minister of Sarawak, responded as such when asked about the matter during a media interview after attending the triennial delegate conference of the party.
Deputy Chairman of SUPP, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, who also attended the press conference, added that there are many matters to handle during the convention, and this application will not be reviewed.
As a former DAP leader, Abd Aziz has served as the publicity secretary of the DAP Socialist Youth and has contested the Batu Kitang seat representing the DAP in 2016 and 2021.
It is reported that Abd Aziz, in an interview recently, revealed that he had formally submitted his application to join SUPP on January 28th of this year. He claimed that the significant progress Sarawak has made under the leadership of Chief Minister Abang Johari was the key factor for his decision.
