Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz stated on the 23rd that previous negotiations between Iran and the United States around a memorandum of understanding did not involve the issue of ballistic missiles.
At a joint press conference with visiting Iranian President Pezeshkian, he said that in this negotiation process between Iran and the US, the ballistic missile issue was never put on the negotiation table, nor was it ever included in the agenda, and the Iranian side never agreed to any discussion on it.
Earlier this month, when the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding, US President Trump claimed that he did not oppose Iran possessing ballistic missiles, but US ally Israel firmly opposed this.
At the press conference on the 23rd, Shahbaz also expressed condolences to the Iranian people who lost their lives in previous conflicts and stated that Pakistan stands firmly with the people of Iran.
Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its role in easing regional tensions, saying that the Pakistani side has made responsible and visionary contributions to maintaining regional stability.
He called for the establishment of a new regional security architecture in West Asia and the Gulf region based on dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperative participation.
