(Miri, July 5) — The "2025 Sarawak Xtive Armwrestling Challenge 3.0" was held today at the ground floor of the Civil Center, drawing 60 competitors from multiple Sarawak cities and Brunei. The event was lively, filled with excitement.
Mr. Alex Chu, President of Miri Armwrestling Association and Chairman of the organizing committee, said at the opening ceremony that this year’s event is not only a grand showcase of strength and perseverance, but also embodies the core values of sportsmanship—respect, resilience, and unity.
He noted that participants hailed not only from the host city of Miri, but also from Kuching, Mukah, Bintulu, and armwrestling enthusiasts from Brunei enthusiastically signed up as well. Whether they came to defend their title, pursue personal breakthroughs, or challenge their own limits, everyone’s fighting spirit is commendable.

Alex Chu emphasized that armwrestling is not a "kampung game", but an officially recognized international sport. He revealed that the association will continue to promote the development of armwrestling and has reached a preliminary agreement with armwrestling associations in Brunei, Sabah, Labuan, and Indonesia to jointly host the "Borneo Armwrestling Open", aiming to establish Sarawak as a regional hub for armwrestling events.
"I hope that in the future, armwrestling can be included in major events such as the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) and the Borneo Games, so Sarawak athletes can shine on an even bigger stage."
He said that only with the support of the relevant government sports departments can the sport continue to grow and move toward internationalization.
He also expressed his gratitude to the organizers MySed, Miri Civil Center for providing the venue, and all sponsors and partners for their collaboration. It was their efforts that ensured the smooth running of this event.
As the 3.0 event opened, Alex Chu called on everyone to continue encouraging each other both on and off the field, to cherish the connections and legacy built through the competition, and regardless of victory or defeat, everyone has taken a solid step forward in promoting armwrestling.
