(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) During the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), 12 enterprises from Brunei—including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), foreign direct investment (FDI) companies, and government-linked companies (GLCs)—are showcasing their products and services at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center, with the exhibition lasting until Sunday.
The Brunei Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) will facilitate Brunei’s participation in three main exhibition zones.
As the key platform for ASEAN member states, the commodity exhibition zone features a total of 8 Bruneian enterprises.
The ASEAN High-Tech Zone showcases EVYD Technologies and two startups under Brunei Innovation Lab. The tourism-focused Charming City Pavilion highlights the Royal Regalia Museum, with Brunei hoping to attract Chinese tourism partners and buyers.
Datuk Dato Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, and Dato Juanda, Minister of Development, visited the Brunei booth.
Wang Naixue, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region CPPCC, also visited the Brunei booth.
Over the past decade, trade between Brunei and China has steadily grown, reaching a record high of USD 2.809 billion in 2024. This has bolstered optimism among Bruneian enterprises for expanding exports to China.
The connectivity between Brunei and Guangxi continues to strengthen; in 2023, Muara Port Company launched the Muara-Beibu Gulf container route, providing direct shipping between Brunei and Guangxi. At the commodity exhibition zone, the Brunei Economic Development Board is also promoting local product exports and highlighting foreign direct investment opportunities.
Acting CEO of Brunei Economic Development Board, Liang Zhijian, stated, "Through platforms such as the China-ASEAN Expo and the Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor, we have seen growing interest from both Bruneian and Chinese enterprises."
"These partnerships will invest in Brunei to strengthen the industrial value chain, promote exports, create jobs, and foster links with MSMEs."
