(Kuching, 16th) A Mercedes-Benz luxury car was impounded on Wednesday (April 15) during the 'Ops Luxury' and 'Ops Gempur Kenderaan Perdagangan' operations carried out by the Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) in the city, due to overdue road tax.
The Sarawak Road Transport Department stated that a total of 514 vehicles were inspected in the operation conducted by the Kuching enforcement unit.
The luxury car was impounded because its road tax has expired and it was uninsured.
In addition, a lorry was also impounded for multiple violations, including overdue road tax and lack of insurance.
Further inspection revealed that the lorry driver did not possess a valid Competent Driving License (CDL) or a Goods Driving License (GDL).
The vehicle was also found to have poorly maintained tires, lack of vehicle body markings, and no valid transport permit.
The authorities emphasized that they will continue to strengthen enforcement actions to ensure road users comply with traffic regulations and enhance road safety.
