MOH Discusses Workplace Balance Policy, Promotes Work-Life Harmony Development

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 7th) The Ministry of Health, through its Mental Health Strategy Department and Health Promotion Centre, in collaboration with the Public Service Department, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), held a workshop yesterday at the Ministry of Health’s Al-Afiyah Hall on the drafting of a “Work-Life Balance Policy Applicable to All Workplaces.”
This workshop is a continuation of a two-day workshop held in January 2026. It began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah from the Quran, followed by a welcoming address from Nor Shahmon, Clinical Psychologist and Head of Mental Health Strategy at the Health Promotion Centre.

This full-day workshop was rich in knowledge-sharing sessions on the theme of “Achieving Work-Life Balance in Islam” during the morning session, delivered by two invited speakers: Dr. Nor Baulizan, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), spoke on the topic of: Nurturing Maqasid Al-Shariah in Governance.
In addition, Dr. Khadijah, Senior Assistant Professor at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, delivered her topic: Work-Life Balance – Enhancing Mental Health in the Workplace.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks by Siti Rosmawati, Director of the Health Promotion Centre at the Ministry of Health.
The initiative to develop a work-life balance policy applicable to all workplaces is one of the priority actions under the “Brunei 2022-2025 Mental Health Action Plan”, specifically Strategy 1: Strengthening Effective Leadership and Governance in the Field of Mental Health at the National Level. This action plan is currently being updated by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health.
