(Sibu, 30th) — The water supply around Chiao Nan Road has been fully restored to normal after the completion of major water main repair works.
Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department announced in its latest update at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday (April 29) that the reconnection work on the damaged water pipe was completed at 5:30 p.m., enabling the affected area’s water supply system to resume normal operation.
The company stated that the disruption was caused by a landslide, which necessitated large-scale repairs at the site. The technical team worked continuously for nearly 24 hours under difficult conditions before successfully resolving the issue.
“Technical staff operated between unstable power poles and telecommunication poles, digging a trench about 8 feet deep and installing a new 20-meter-long water pipe connection.”
Despite being extremely fatigued, Sarawak Rural Water Supply pointed out that when leakage was found at the joint, the team immediately shut off the valve and restarted the reconnection to ensure the repair was thoroughly completed.
The company stated: “All efforts had only one goal—to restore the water supply as quickly as possible.” and described the team as “unsung heroes” who work silently behind the scenes.
Sarawak Rural Water Supply also thanked users for their patience and understanding during the water supply interruption.
With the repairs completed, water supply in the Chiao Nan Road area has returned to normal.
If users still encounter any issues, they may call the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Central Region Hotline at 013-8106311 for inquiries.
