(Kota Samarahan, 16th) A single-story house in Kampung Niup caught fire in the early hours today, but all four families living inside managed to escape, and fortunately, no one was injured.
A total of 16 residents escaped from the blaze in time, with no casualties reported.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, they received an emergency call at 4:19am and immediately dispatched firefighters from the Kota Samarahan and Tabuan Jaya stations to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the permanent house, measuring about 32 feet by 70 feet, had been completely destroyed by the fire.
The fire also affected a neighboring house, causing about 5% damage to its roof area.
The firefighting team managed to bring the blaze under control by 5:03am, and subsequently carried out inspection and clean-up operations to ensure there were no remaining embers or hidden sources of fire at the scene.
The cause of the fire and the total losses are still under investigation.
