(Miri, 27th) The 21st term (2022-2024) of the Miri Teochew Association will expire on December 31st. The election committee for the new board of directors' 22nd term (2025-2027) is scheduled from December 20th to December 27th for a 7-day nomination period. The nomination is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Members interested in running for the new board of directors can obtain nomination forms at the Miri Teochew Association office, located at (Jubba) LOT 1786, GROUND FLOOR, JALAN JEE FOH, KROKOP, 98000 MIRI, SARAWAK.
Election Rules:
1. Nomination System: The upcoming 22nd term (2025-2027) board election will adopt a nomination system. 18 directors will be elected, and then these 18 directors will conduct a re-election to determine the officers of the board.
2. Nomination Method:
2.1 Members must use the nomination forms issued by the association's secretariat and can propose any member as a nominee. (Affiliate members cannot hold positions in the association's board)
2.2 During the nomination period, the nomination form must be proposed by one qualified member and seconded by another, with the nominated person's signature agreeing to the nomination for it to be valid.
2.3 The nomination form must have a proposer, seconder, and nominee for it to be valid.
2.4 If the nomination form is unclear, incomplete, or violates the election rules, it will be deemed invalid.
3. After Nomination Closing:
3.1 According to the constitution, the board consists of 18 directors. If the number of qualified nominees does not exceed 18, all nominees will automatically be elected as the new board of directors.
3.2 If the number of nominees exceeds 18, voting will be conducted to decide.
