Unity Government spokesman and Minister of Communications Fahmi stated that the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, will issue a ministerial statement in Parliament next Thursday regarding the topic of rice base price.

He said that Mohamad Sabu informed the cabinet today that he would deliver a ministerial statement on the topic of rice, particularly the rice base price, in Parliament on the 13th of this month.

He indicated that after Mohamad Sabu makes the statement, Parliament will be opened for parliamentarians to debate the issue.

“We are just awaiting the minister's statement on that day.”

Fahmi mentioned this in his regular press conference after the cabinet meeting today.

Additionally, he stated that today’s cabinet also prayed for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who is currently abroad for medical treatment, hoping for a successful treatment and good health.

When asked about what arrangements are made for state affairs during the King’s overseas treatment, he said that everything will be conducted according to the constitution.

“We are following the Federal Constitution; there are specific timeframes and mechanisms. Therefore, we will adhere to constitutional provisions.”

“By this morning, the King has already departed, and we will continue to monitor His Majesty's treatment process.”

Regarding media reports that over 400 Malaysian citizens will be deported following a tightening of US immigration policies, Fahmi reported that the government is also aware of this matter through media reports, and today's cabinet did not discuss this issue.

Therefore, he said, if there are any questions, they can be directed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Furthermore, Fahmi noted that the cabinet today discussed the outcomes following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar’s recent meetings with Indonesian President Prabowo and Uzbekistani President Shavkat.

He said that the benefits brought by the visits of the leaders from these two countries to Malaysia are not only about the many memorandums signed and the closer bilateral relations observed by all, but also provide numerous opportunities for business and investment in both countries.

He added that Turkish President Erdogan will also visit Malaysia next Tuesday.
