Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar pointed out that the Cabinet today decided there is no need to establish guidelines regarding Muslims participating in other religious celebrations.
He stated that this matter was finalized in the Cabinet meeting on Friday morning (February 7th) and will be presented to Sultan Nazrin, who also serves as the Chairman of the Malaysian Islamic Affairs Council (MKI) Consultative Committee.
"I think it is unnecessary because Muslims are aware of their own guidelines. For example, I came to this event (to inspect the Thaipusam festival site) without participating in any religious ceremonies.

"Similarly, Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh frequently visits mosques in his constituency but does not participate in religious ceremonies. This is very common for us.
"Therefore, do not complicate matters and do not create unease in the society. I want to emphasize that this decision was agreed upon in this morning's Cabinet meeting."
