(Miri, 17th) Miri Mayor Adam Yii has welcomed the upcoming 'Love Our Beach, Love Our Miri 2.0' beach cleaning event organized by the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) on October 12th, emphasizing that the activity is not just about cleaning up the environment but also about conveying the important message of maintaining cleanliness in Miri city.
He pointed out that the Miri City Council shoulders the main responsibility for keeping the urban area clean, but if the effort relies solely on the Council, it will still be difficult to achieve comprehensive results. "Only when all stakeholders work together can we prevent littering, reduce waste generation, and ensure that garbage is properly managed."
Adam Yii said that, in addition to practical action, cleanliness campaigns also need to be promoted to attract more citizens to take part and jointly maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the city of Miri.
"I wholeheartedly welcome the collaboration between NSJA and various groups in organizing this beach cleaning activity. The City Council will also do its best to coordinate and provide the necessary facilities to ensure the event’s smooth success."
