American TV series Friends star Matthew Perry unfortunately passed away in October 2023. Recently, the last defendant involved in the case, Jasveen Sangha—nicknamed the “Ketamine Queen of Los Angeles”—agreed to plead guilty, exposing shocking details of the case to the public.
The 42-year-old Jasveen, who holds dual citizenship in the US and UK, had maintained her innocence ever since being detained in August 2024. Her trial was originally scheduled to begin on August 19, later postponed to September 23. Now, she has decided to enter a plea agreement, thus bypassing the trial process. According to the US Department of Justice, Jasveen will plead guilty to 5 counts, including 1 count of “maintaining a drug-involved premises,” 3 counts of “distribution of ketamine,” and 1 count of “distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.” The maximum sentence for maintaining a drug-involved premises is 20 years, each drug distribution count carries up to 10 years, and distribution resulting in death carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.
Prosecutors stated that Jasveen colluded with a 55-year-old street dealer to supply Matthew with ketamine continuously in the weeks leading up to his death. In October 2023—the same month Matthew died—the two sold him as many as 51 vials of ketamine. On October 28, 2023, Matthew was found dead in his jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home at the age of 54. The autopsy revealed the cause of death was “acute effects of ketamine.” A total of five people have been indicted in connection with the case.
