On the 6th, US President Trump expressed optimism multiple times regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran, stating that the US and Iran had engaged in productive talks over the past 24 hours, and that reaching a final agreement was very likely.
During an event at the White House, he told the media that Iran now urgently wants to reach an agreement, and if an agreement is indeed achieved, then they absolutely cannot possess nuclear weapons. The Iranian side has already agreed to this.
He stated that the negotiations are currently progressing smoothly, "We want to secure the benefits we deserve," and if things do not go as hoped, "then we will have to take even tougher measures."
When the media asked whether there was a deadline for Iran to respond to the latest US proposal, Trump said there was no deadline.
Additionally, in a phone interview with PBS earlier that day, Trump said, "I think the chances of reaching an agreement are very high," and that the US and Iran could possibly reach an agreement as early as next week to end the conflict.
He stated that a possible agreement includes Iran transporting its highly enriched uranium to the United States.
He also pointed out that Iran would promise not to operate underground nuclear facilities and to abide by this arrangement in good faith for a considerable period of time.
He said he feels the US is getting closer to reaching an agreement, "I think the chances of reaching an agreement are very high," but at the same time he also warned: "If they do not agree, then we will bomb."
