Mandopop superstar Jay Chou (Jay) has always projected a cool, talented public persona, but at home, it seems he’s far from being the one in charge. Even his beloved wife, Hannah Quinlivan, recently pointed to a particular ‘key figure’ in an interview—both apparently have absolutely no way to control her ‘domineering ways’.
Asked whose hidden skills she most admires in the family, Hannah immediately singled out her younger daughter, directly saying that she’s ‘overbearing and does her own thing’ and has tremendous courage to ‘be herself’. “Actually, when it comes to things related to the kids, my fighting power is always really strong.”
The ‘overbearing, self-willed little daughter’ Hannah talks about coincides perfectly with the scenario described in Jay’s song, “Your Highness Daughter.” In the lyrics, he pokes fun at himself for sending the kids off to school early in the morning: “Turns out I forgot the bottle on top of the car,” a situation both frantic and real. He goes on in the song to describe himself as often “acting crazy and cool,” basically struggling to survive between breaking down and staying elegant; even having to “dress up as an elf to pick you up at the school gate” after school—totally a dad taking orders from his daughter.
2 Days Post-Release: ‘Digital Sales Surpass 2.18 Million’
Physical Sales Break 100,000 Before Release

In addition, Jay’s latest album, “Greatest Works of Art,” has surpassed 2.18 million in digital sales just two days after release. The physical album, set to hit stores on April 10th and available for pre-order since March 19th, had topped 100,000 pre-orders in only six days as of the 25th—a remarkable achievement in an era when physical albums are all but declining.
Interestingly, in the original “Greatest Works of Art” MV, Jay and Van Gogh lock eyes in a café, but in the album ads, the two are instead seen unboxing Jay’s physical album together. The physical album is exquisitely designed, with the outer box styled as a European classical carved window; the cover’s signature letters and border are hot stamped in gold, creating a dazzling ‘sunlight’ effect.
