(Bandar Seri Begawan, 11th) The Ministry of Labour recently conducted an inspection at a commercial site in Kampong Pengkalan Gadong, discovering multiple violations of the Employment Order.
This inspection, carried out on June 3, was conducted under Action Number 108/2025, with a focus on enforcing the provisions of Chapter 278 of the Employment Order.
The action targeted a household and industrial appliance supplier, where enforcement officers found the supplier allegedly committed seven violations.
These violations include: failing to provide employees with a written employment contract; unauthorized deductions from employee wages; not granting employees leave on statutory public holidays; failing to provide annual leave; not offering sick leave certified by a doctor; failing to provide first aid equipment; and not granting paid maternity leave, resulting in a female employee not receiving her salary during maternity leave.
Further investigations are still underway. If found guilty, the employer may face fines of up to $1,000 for each violation. Failure to pay the compound fines may lead to court actions.
