(Kuala Lumpur, 9th) Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta stated that the Simpang Pulai toll plaza in Perak still maintains a Grade A service level and remains sufficient to meet current traffic demands.
He said that the Simpang Pulai toll plaza experiences higher traffic flow during weekends and festive seasons, but it can still cope with the present traffic requirements.
He made these remarks while answering a supplementary question from Gopeng MP Dr. Ko Chung Sen during the ministerial question time in the Dewan Rakyat.
Dr. Ko inquired whether the Public Works Department planned to review, together with the Malaysian Highway Authority, the location and scale of the Simpang Pulai toll plaza and its connecting roads to determine if they remain appropriate.
He noted that local traffic continues to increase, as it is an important gateway to Ipoh and Cameron Highlands, with a significant rise in traffic flow during weekends and peak tourist seasons.
