On the 25th, a Ukrainian drone struck an Iranian merchant ship in the Caspian Sea for the first time, resulting in one death and one injury. Tehran strongly condemned this as a “criminal act of aggression,” and the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that Ukraine would face “unpredictable consequences.” However, Ukrainian President Zelensky, during a visit to the UK in an interview with Sky News, mentioned that Iran transferred thousands of suicide drones to Russia during the first year of the war, stressing that Iran had already attacked Ukraine long ago.
According to foreign media reports, Zelensky stated in the interview that Tehran was directly involved since the early stages of the war, providing drones, technology, and production licenses to Russia. During the first year of the war, Iran supplied Russia with thousands of Shahed suicide drones. By “arming Moscow,” Iran has already joined the Russia-Ukraine conflict and, in effect, has already attacked Ukraine.
Zelensky emphasized that Iran has participated in the war by arming Moscow. “What have they done? Have they attacked our country? I think so. They have already done so, and the war is ongoing.”
Zelensky said he hopes Iran will not expand its support for Russia, but warned that Ukraine must remain prepared.
Zelensky stressed: “We cannot trust ‘these people.’ At the outset, when there was no information or signs of escalation on our side, both Iranians and North Koreans were already providing weapons to Russia.”
