U.S. President Donald Trump has once again publicly stirred up controversy by posting an edited photo on social media, seemingly implying that Italian Prime Minister Meloni is 'infatuated' with him.
On the 5th, Trump posted a photo on his social media platform Truth Social with the caption: 'RESTRAINING ORDER NEEDED.' In the photo, 49-year-old Meloni appears to be gazing up at 80-year-old Trump, subtly suggesting that Meloni is 'infatuated' with him.
The post does not explicitly state whether Trump is requesting a restraining order against Meloni, but many netizens have interpreted it that way.
Some netizens also suggested that the post was mocking an incident in which Meloni was 'begging' to take a photo with Trump.
Last month, Trump claimed that during the G7 Summit in France, Meloni repeatedly sought to take photos with him, and that her domestic approval ratings had been affected due to her stance towards the U.S.
Trump said: 'She was probably very happy that I spoke to her. I didn’t have to talk to her... She begged me to take a photo with her. She really wanted to take a photo with me. I wouldn’t have agreed, but I felt sympathy for her.'
In response, Meloni said she was 'shocked' by Trump's 'completely fabricated' comments. She said: 'He (Trump) should remember one thing: Neither I nor Italy ever beg.'
