(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) The Ministry of Finance and its departments held the 2026 Walking Marathon yesterday, starting from the VIP parking lot at the Ministry of Finance, circling Jalan Menteri Besar Recreational Park, and ending at the Ministry of Finance building.
The guest of honor at the event was Second Minister of Finance, Dato Liu Guangming.
Attendees included the Deputy Minister of Finance, Permanent Secretary, Managing Director of Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, Managing Director of Brunei Investment Agency Datin Zetty Sufina, as well as heads of departments, officials, and staff from the Ministry of Finance and its subdivisions, and officials and staff of the Brunei Central Bank.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah from the Quran, followed by a warm-up exercise.
Activities then proceeded with a 5km run, a 2km fun run, and a 3km platinum competitive run.
The 2026 walkathon was an initiative by the ministry to promote physical and mental well-being, aiming not only to maintain physical health through sports, but also to enhance mental wellness and strengthen connections among officials and staff of the ministry and its subordinate departments.
This year's 2026 walkathon was organized by the Brunei Investment Agency (under the Ministry of Finance).
