After US President Trump unexpectedly instructed the resumption of nuclear tests, Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi stated on the 30th that the US plan is “regressive and irresponsible”; a United Nations spokesperson stated that nuclear tests are not permitted under any circumstances.
According to AFP reports, Russian President Putin announced on the 29th that a nuclear-capable, nuclear-powered underwater drone "Poseidon" had been successfully tested, adding that such an unmanned torpedo is "unstoppable."
Trump immediately posted on social media: "Based on the testing plans of other countries, I have instructed the Department of War to begin testing our nuclear weapons on an equal basis. This procedure will begin immediately."
Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi posted on social media: "A nuclear-armed bully is resuming tests of atomic weapons. The same bully has been demonizing Iran’s peaceful nuclear program."
"(The US) announcement of resuming nuclear tests is a regressive and irresponsible move that poses a grave threat to international peace and security."
A UN spokesperson stated that nuclear testing is "under no circumstances" permitted.
Deputy spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Guterres, Farhan Haq, pointed out: "The Secretary-General has repeatedly emphasized that the current nuclear risks have reached worrying heights, and all actions that could lead to miscalculation or escalation with catastrophic consequences must be avoided… Nuclear testing is absolutely not permissible under any circumstances."
