The British royal family issued a statement on the 30th, announcing that King Charles III has officially initiated the process to strip Prince Andrew of his honorary titles and distinctions, and has notified him to move out of the royal residence.
The statement said that hereafter, Prince Andrew will be known as "Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor" and will move to a private residence.
Andrew is the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth II. In recent years, he has been embroiled in scandal due to his close relationship with the late American financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. However, Andrew insists that he severed ties with Epstein long ago and strenuously denies ever having sexual relations with underage girls at Epstein’s mansion.
The royal statement says: "Although he (Andrew) continues to deny the related allegations, these measures are still seen as necessary actions."
Andrew has not objected to Buckingham Palace's decision and will move to a residence privately funded by Charles III. Andrew’s two daughters will still retain their princess titles.
