The Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, Akbarzadeh, stated that the Strait of Hormuz is now completely under the control of the Iranian Navy, and that over a dozen oil tankers in the strait have been hit by shells.
He said that the IRGC Navy had repeatedly warned that the Strait of Hormuz is in a state of war and that any vessel could be struck by shells or drones. However, more than ten oil tankers ignored these warnings and have been hit by shells and burned.
He emphasized that after Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to navigation, oil tankers, merchant ships, and fishing vessels would no longer be able to pass through the strait.
