As of 12:00 noon on June 18, the number of inbound and outbound travelers at the China-Vietnam border Hekou Port reached 3,001,200 so far this year, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%, making it the first open port in Yunnan Province to see cross-border passenger flow exceed 3 million people.

According to China News Service, this data was released by the Hekou Border Immigration Inspection Station in Yunnan.

Hekou Port is located in Hekou Yao Autonomous County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is the largest land port on the Yunnan section of the China-Vietnam border. Thanks to convenient transportation, it continues to attract a large number of Chinese and foreign travelers, with the majority being Vietnamese visitors.

On June 18, Hekou Port saw a peak of inbound Vietnamese tourist groups, many of whom came to experience the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, lining up in front of the joint inspection building to process entry procedures. After entering, some tourists took high-speed trains to visit Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, and other destinations, while others stayed in Hekou County to experience the unique charm of a border city.

Data shows that 2026 to 2027 will be the China-Vietnam Cross-Border Tourism Cooperation Years. From January 1 to June 15 this year, more than 1,500 Vietnamese tour groups, totaling 29,600 people, entered China at Hekou Port with passports, representing year-on-year increases of 14.6% and 13.8%, respectively.

To meet the continuously growing demand for border crossing, Hekou Immigration Inspection Station has been promoting online completion of entry cards for foreigners, utilizing a visualized-duty command platform to monitor passenger flow in real time and dynamically adjust inspection channels. Additional guidance, translation posts, as well as "Caring Channels" and "Green Channels" have also been set up to improve services.
