A new study on adult weight loss populations in Finland shows that sleep quality is closely related to weight management. The duration of nighttime sleep, circadian rhythm, and daytime alertness can significantly affect individuals' weight loss results, and those who sleep 7 to 9 hours a night perform best in terms of weight loss.

Researchers from the University of Helsinki and other institutions in Finland recently published a paper in the academic journal Obesity Medicine, noting that they studied more than 1,800 adult participants in Finland's "Weight Management House" health weight loss guidance program. During a year-long digital lifestyle intervention, these participants recorded weight changes as well as data on sleep duration, circadian rhythm, daytime alertness, and the occurrence of sleep apnea.

Analysis found that sleep is a key component of weight management. Sleeping less than 7 hours a night was associated with poorer weight loss results, while people sleeping 7 to 9 hours a night achieved the most successful weight loss.

In addition, those who go to bed early and wake up early had, on average, better weight loss results than those who go to bed late and wake up late. People with sleep apnea saw smaller amounts of weight loss, and those who were energetic and highly alert during the day experienced more significant weight loss effects.

Additionally, the study showed that digital lifestyle interventions can provide effective support for weight management.
