Trump Says 'Burevestnik' Test 'Inappropriate'; Russia: Should Not Affect Russia-US Interaction

Published at Oct 28, 2025 11:07 am
Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov pointed out that the test of the 'Burevestnik' nuclear-powered cruise missile should not affect interactions between Russia and the United States.

He stated, "There are no factors here that could or should cause tension in Russia-US relations."

Peskov said that although Russia remains open to dialogue, it is still guided by national interests and is committed to ensuring security.

He said: "The development of new weapons systems is precisely driven by this objective, which includes the already publicized 'Burevestnik' system. For Russia, ensuring security is of paramount importance."

He pointed out that current Russia-US relations are at their lowest point, and there are currently only faint efforts to restore ties. Russia remains open to contact.

In addition, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov stated that Russia strictly abides by the bilateral agreements with the US regarding ballistic missile launches and strategic exercises, "and there have been no deviations from the requirements of these documents."

While visiting Asia, US President Trump said on the US presidential plane Air Force One on the 27th that Russia's recent test of the 'Burevestnik' nuclear-powered cruise missile was 'inappropriate.' He said Russia should end the Russia-Ukraine conflict instead of testing missiles.
