It is suspected that a quarrel over playing with the playground facilities between two children led to a confrontation, during which a 68-year-old woman publicly pushed and forcefully slapped a young girl, causing her to fall to the ground. Afterwards, the two families involved got into a brawl.

According to Hong Kong media 'HK01', a video that went viral on the social platform Threads on Wednesday (25th), showed that at around 4 p.m. that day at the 'SUMMER PLAYFEST' venue in the atrium of the APM shopping mall in Kwun Tong, an elderly woman pushed and forcefully slapped a young girl, followed by a melee between the two families.

Police intervened to investigate. The preliminary investigation indicated that the incident was triggered by two children, a boy and a girl, fighting over the use of play equipment. The police arrested three people: the boy's mother and grandmother, as well as the girl's mother. Four people were taken to hospital with injuries in the incident.

It is reported that the incident occurred at 4:44 p.m. The 68-year-old woman surnamed Leung and her 34-year-old daughter surnamed Ng brought their grandson to play at APM. During their visit, their grandson got into a dispute with a 5-year-old girl over the use of the play equipment.

双方家长陷入混战。
Leung allegedly slapped the girl, and when the girl's 34-year-old mother, surnamed Xu, saw what happened, she went up to confront them, and allegedly injured the boy's mother, Ms. Ng. The three started fighting and eventually Ms. Ng called the police.

Upon police arrival and investigation, Ms. Leung reported pain in her face and buttocks; Ms. Ng had a red mark on the left side of her face and injuries to her hand; the 5-year-old girl had redness and swelling on the right side of her face, and her mother also sustained facial injuries.

Ms. Leung and her daughter Ms. Ng were arrested on suspicion of "fighting in a public place," with Ms. Leung additionally suspected of "common assault." The girl's mother was also arrested for "fighting in a public place." All those arrested are currently detained for investigation, and the case has been handed over to the Fifth Team of the Kwun Tong District Crime Squad. All four injured persons remained conscious and were sent to United Christian Hospital for treatment.

It is understood that the girl and her mother are from mainland China and had entered Hong Kong with travel permits.

From the video, it can be seen that an elderly woman wearing a red top forcefully pushes a young girl, leaving the girl frozen in shock. The woman then charges forward and slaps the girl hard, causing her to fall to the ground. At this point, a woman in a black top, suspected to be the girl's parent, immediately steps forward to confront the elderly woman. Another woman in a dress pushes away the woman in black. There is a heated argument between both parties, and at one point, the woman in the dress grabs the woman in black and shouts: “You stay right here and don’t leave!” Someone at the scene can be heard saying “Call the police.”
