The incident of staff at the Sayram Lake Scenic Spot assaulting a tour bus driver has caused a negative impact. In response, local authorities have required that self-driving service fees at 4A-level and above scenic spots in Xinjiang be changed to a per-vehicle charging model.
According to Xinhua News Agency, to continuously optimize the tourism environment and better benefit the broad masses of tourists, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Department of Culture and Tourism, together with relevant departments, has guided all 4A-level and above tourist attractions that charge self-driving service fees to optimize and adjust their charging models and standards—all will now be charged by vehicle.
According to different vehicle types (based on the number of seats specified in the vehicle registration certificate), the price for vehicles with five seats or fewer will not exceed 120 yuan (RMB, approximately 72.74 ringgit) per vehicle; six to seven seats, no more than 180 yuan per vehicle; eight to nineteen seats, no more than 300 yuan per vehicle; and 20 seats or above, no more than 600 yuan per vehicle.
Due to the need to adjust and upgrade ticketing systems, for scenic spots originally charging per person, the new per-vehicle charging plan will be implemented no later than 0:00 on August 20, with a transitional period during which prices will not exceed 30 yuan per person; for scenic spots already charging per vehicle, the new plan will be implemented no later than 0:00 on August 12, with no transitional period. Each scenic spot's new charging plan will be announced to the public in the near future.
On August 3, a joint working group from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture issued a notice on the Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture government website: On July 23, staff at the Sayram Lake Scenic Spot were involved in an incident of assaulting a tour bus driver, causing a negative impact.
