According to the Bangkok Post, explosions and arson incidents broke out one after another on Saturday (August 22) in Thailand's three southern provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani, including the burning of car tires, township administrative offices, as well as the bombing of power poles and convenience stores.
Among them, at least 11 incidents occurred in Narathiwat province, including a car bombing that injured two people.
Police in Sungai Kolok district received a report that a car carrying five people exploded shortly after passing the Darabaras Mosque intersection. Shrapnel hit the vehicle, injuring two women inside.
Security forces have sealed off the scene to carry out investigations and have heightened security precautions in the surrounding areas.
The Fourth Army Area of Thailand posted on social media that evening, urging the public to remain vigilant, avoid attack sites and designated safety zones, and not to approach or move suspicious items.
Narathiwat Special Task Force also announced that from 10:15pm Saturday night to 6:00am Sunday, a curfew would be enforced to strengthen control over the situation.
