The polar scientific expedition team, jointly organized by China's Ministry of Natural Resources and Chinese Academy of Sciences to carry out manned deep-sea dives in the Arctic, returned smoothly on the 27th.
According to China Central Television, the domestically designed and constructed manned deep-sea operation mothership with icebreaking capabilities, 'Exploration No. 3,' carried the 'Fendouzhe' (Striver) manned submersible and completed a total of 43 dive missions in the Arctic.
The report stated that the Chinese Arctic manned deep-sea scientific expedition team departed from Sanya on July 22 this year, joined by the 'Jiaolong' manned deep-sea team, and together headed to Arctic Ocean waters to carry out deep-sea missions. During this period, the scientific expedition team operated in the Arctic Ocean for 56 days, conducting a series of scientific investigations and experiments, with the 'Fendouzhe' submersible completing 43 dive missions.
The report also noted that this voyage pioneered a new mode of mobile ice diving with ship-submersible coordination in dense ice areas, making China currently the only country in the world to carry out continuous manned deep-sea dives in densely packed Arctic sea ice regions.
