(Kuching, 8th) The Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) has approved two medical development projects with a total value of RM3.6 million, bringing significant enhancements to healthcare facilities in the Serian area.
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), the first project involves an allocation of RM600,000 to upgrade the pediatric ward at Serian Hospital, aimed at improving the comfort and overall quality of care for child patients.
The second project allocates RM3 million to construct an Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy (OT/PT) building at the Serian Health Clinic, equipped with parking facilities. This development is expected to strengthen rehabilitation services and at the same time alleviate the parking shortage at the clinic.

Bukit Semuja Assemblyman John Ilus stated that the approvals were officially confirmed through the handover of approval letters during on-site inspections at Serian Hospital and Serian Health Clinic today.
He added that the Serian Public Works Department (JKR Serian) has been appointed as the technical agency for the projects and will collaborate closely with the technical teams from the hospital and clinic to finalize details and ensure smooth project implementation.
“We hope both projects can commence smoothly and be completed as soon as possible, so that the people of Serian can benefit from higher-quality healthcare services at the earliest opportunity,” he said.
Those present at the event included representatives from GKCDA, Serian Public Works Department, Serian Hospital, Serian Health Clinic, the Resident’s Office (Serian Division), and the District Office (Serian District).
