(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) A man was fined 300 dollar by the Environmental, Parks, and Recreation Department (JASTRe) for littering in the bushes at Kampong Salambigar.
The offender, named Obiri, was fined under Chapter 12(1) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.
Offenders must pay the fine within seven days. Otherwise, they will be taken to court.
The penalty for a first-time offense is between 1,000 dollar and 3,000 dollar. Repeat offenses carry more severe penalties, including fines ranging from 3,000 dollar to 9,000 dollar, imprisonment of no more than six months, or both.
The department reiterated its commitment to maintaining a clean environment and urged the public to act responsibly by disposing of waste in designated areas to protect and preserve the environment.
