The Senadin Service Center Team Inspects Multiple Flooded Areas

(Miri, 29th) Following complaints of flooding in the Krokop and Lopeng areas on Friday, the Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, who is not in Miri, requested Councilor Peng Xiaobing to lead the Senadin Service Center team to inspect the situation.

This morning, therefore, Councilor Jeffery Phang, Councilor Yap Siew Yin, local leaders, and Miri City Council officials went to the site to inspect. The locations included Lopeng and Lorong Cahaya 1B, Jalan Nasturium 1B/2, and Jalan Riam Avenue.

Some affected residents from the above areas also participated in the site inspection for discussion and feedback.

The council officials emphasized to the residents that despite the implementation of three projects previously, the water rise issue on Lorong Cahaya 1B remains unresolved because landowners refused to allow the council to dig temporary ditches to divert rainwater.

The council will work with other relevant departments to research alternative solutions to improve the city's drainage system.

Jeffery Phang thanked the council officials for visiting the site over the weekend and also thanked the residents for participating in the inspection and providing feedback to the service team. He will seek remedial solutions with other council members and local leaders to prevent the water rise problem in the above-mentioned areas.
