Sun De'an specifically expressed his gratitude to Professor Pan Yanqin for her many years of academic research and contributions on Brunei's Chinese education, literature, and cultural issues. Speaking of the association's work, Sun De'an stated that the 13th World Chinese Writers Representatives Conference will be held this year in Miri, Malaysia, and that preparations are progressing in an orderly manner, with registration and liaison going smoothly. He pointed out that since its establishment, the Association has gone through a 45-year journey, always dedicated to uniting Chinese writers worldwide, promoting cross-regional literary exchange and cooperation, and witnessing and participating in the growth and transformation of overseas Chinese literature during various historical stages. The association is not only a platform for literary creation and exchange but also an important bridge connecting Chinese cultural groups around the world.
Sun De'an emphasized that if Guangxi University for Nationalities wishes to leverage the association’s resources in academic research, cultural exchange, or international cooperation, the World Chinese Writers Association will fully support and cooperate in the spirit of win-win collaboration, promoting deep interaction between academia and the literary world, and jointly expanding the space for Chinese culture’s development in Southeast Asia and even broader regions.
Professor Pan Yanqin holds a PhD in Humanities from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and currently serves as Associate Professor, Master’s Supervisor, and Director of the Brunei Research Institute and Key Research Base at the College of Southeast Asian Languages and Cultures/ASEAN College/China-ASEAN Regional and Country Studies Institute, Guangxi University for Nationalities. She hopes to further strengthen cooperation with local cultural groups and international Chinese literary organizations in the future, deepen the integration of academic resources and talent cultivation mechanisms, and inject new momentum into regional studies and cultural inheritance.
This meeting not only deepened the connection between the literary and academic worlds, but also laid a good foundation for future Chinese literature promotion, regional research cooperation, and cultural inheritance and development.
