(Bandar Seri Begawan, 9th) The Narcotics Control Bureau recently carried out 'Operation Halloween' and raided a vacation home in Kampung Tagap, Sengkurong, where a Halloween-themed party was being held. Of the 57 party participants, 32 young people aged between 22 and 38 were arrested on suspicion of drug use.
Preliminary analysis with drug detection instruments showed that three types of controlled substances were seized: 24.99 grams of ketamine, 31.04 grams of ecstasy, and one Erimin 5 tablet.
It is estimated these drugs are worth over BND 2,500 on the local market, enough to supply at least 200 people.
In addition, the operation also confiscated BND 1,785 in cash believed to be drug proceeds; a vehicle suspected to have been used for drug trafficking; and drug-packaging equipment, including small transparent bags, straws, and electronic scales. Besides controlled drugs, police also seized and confiscated alcohol, cigarettes, and e-cigarettes. The case has been handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation.
Through this raid, the Narcotics Control Bureau uncovered illegal groups and social activities violating national laws and contravening religious and cultural norms, such as drug use, excessive drinking, and immoral behavior.
Investigations revealed that the gathering was organized by one of those arrested, who rented a vacation home in Kampung Tagap, charged a BND 15 entrance fee, and sold various drugs including ketamine, ecstasy, and Erimin 5.
The results also showed that some of those arrested were university graduates, among whom two were police officers.
Meanwhile, the Narcotics Control Bureau urges youth to always remain rational and avoid social environments that could expose them to illegal activities and cause long-term negative effects (including a criminal record and impact on future opportunities).
Authorities also remind property owners to be attentive to the usage of their rental homes or vacation accommodations to ensure they are not used for any illegal activities. The authorities also extend heartfelt gratitude to other law enforcement agencies for their assistance and cooperation, which enabled the success of this operation.
