PUTRAJAYA, July 30 (Bernama) -- The government has approved 13,343 new unexchanged posts across various service schemes and grades in the Ministry of Health (MOH) to support the operations of 256 new and upgraded healthcare facilities, with an annual financial implication of RM1.25 billion.
The Public Service Department (PSD), in a statement today, said that out of the total, 7,218 posts involve five primary service schemes, namely 1,197 Medical Officers, 239 Dental Officers, 339 Pharmacy Officers, 3,471 Nurses, and 1,972 Assistant Medical Officers.
According to the statement, the remaining 6,125 posts involve various other service schemes that support the delivery of higher-quality healthcare services to the public.
"With this approval, PSD has endorsed a total of 66,312 new unexchanged posts for MOH since 2019, thereby strengthening the capacity of the national healthcare system to meet the growing needs of the people," the statement read.
PSD also informed that to implement the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35), the government is strengthening the Bumiputera Empowerment Unit (UPB) across all ministries via General Circular No. 2 of 2025.
According to the statement, the reinforcement will streamline the coordination, monitoring, and execution of 132 PuTERA35 initiatives across all ministries and agencies by strengthening UPB's functions and governance.
"This includes the rebranding of the Bumiputera Agenda Empowerment Unit (UPAB) to UPB, as well as placing its supervision under the Deputy secretary-general (Policy) or the Deputy secretary-general heading the ministry's strategic planning and policy," PSD said.
PSD added that both strategic measures reflect the government's commitment to strengthening the public sector's capacity as a driver of national development by enhancing the public healthcare system and more effectively implementing PuTERA35.
The statement added that the government will continue to ensure every policy translates into efficient, inclusive, and high-impact service delivery for the well-being of the people and prosperity of the nation.
