At Phu Quoc International Airport in Vietnam, two female employees working in the airport's passenger lobby got into a physical fight, pulling each other's hair, which has been criticized by Vietnamese netizens for tarnishing the nation's dignity.
According to comprehensive reports from Vietnamese media, the incident occurred on May 26, at the passenger lobby of Phu Quoc International Airport. Two female employees were loudly arguing in a crowded area, pulling each other's hair, until colleagues nearby intervened to prevent the conflict from escalating.
On May 30, Phu Quoc Airport confirmed that the female employee from Saigon-Phu Quoc Transport Company involved in the incident had been suspended for 14 days and transferred to another department; another counter staff from the Phu Quoc branch of Vietnam Airport Investment and Services Company was reprimanded and required to pay 1 million Vietnamese dong (approximately 156 Ringgit) as compensation for damaging the company's reputation and was transferred from her original position.
After the news broke, many Vietnamese netizens criticized, “This damages the image of Vietnam's tourism industry,” “Merely transferring them is too lenient, they should be dismissed. Remember, this is an international airport, the face of the country. They should be severely punished to serve as a warning,” “Their behavior is very offensive, I feel very ashamed,” “If you like to fight, you should stay at home.”
