French President Visits Singapore's Lau Pa Sat, Tastes Local Delicacies

French President Emmanuel Macron, on his first state visit to Singapore, arrived with his wife Brigitte on the evening of the 29th. They were accompanied by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his wife to Lau Pa Sat, a famous hawker center in Singapore.

As Macron and Wong's entourage entered the renowned food center, a crowd swarmed, with many eager to capture the rare moment with their phones. The two leaders smiled and greeted them, and many from the public requested photos.

Macron tasted local delicacies such as chee cheong fun, char kway teow, and satay.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and France. Starting on the 29th, Macron's two-day visit to Singapore includes meetings with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Lawrence Wong, as well as delivering a keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue.
